Relaxation Protocol

Relaxation training calms you down by reducing anxiety symptoms. Deeper breathing sends more oxygen to your brain making you more aware of what’s going on around you. When you’re focused on relaxing, you’re distracting yourself from fear-provoking thoughts. Because you can’t multitask, if you’re focused on your breathing you can’t be worrying simultaneously.

Relaxation helps you manage anxiety symptoms and also has another benefit. It’s an opportunity to practice mental focus, eliminating troublesome thoughts. You become your own laboratory where you can practice controlling distractions. Whenever you feel your mind drift, you can work on putting it back on the track to relaxation.

Put on some comfortable, loose clothing and find a quiet place where you can practice and just follow the instructions.
